Photo of Ojo Caliente

Mesa Vista Middle and High school welcomes you to the home of the Trojans! Located in Ojo Caliente, our school is part of the high desert of northern New Mexico--an area known for its fantastic spring waters. With moderate temperatures throughout the seasons, we’re in a great location to live and educate our students, and we’re glad to share it with you.

Our middle and high school is home to nearly 250 students. We’re fortunate to guarantee that students will receive the individualized attention needed to succeed. We have one teacher for every 12 students and we offer many enriching educational programs and sports teams for extra curricular participation. Please take time to become familiar with our school’s programs and events. Many of your questions will be answered as you learn about us. Don’t hesitate to call us either. We look forward to your involvement with your teenagers at Mesa Vista.

A Message from our Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

As a newcomer to Mesa Vista Middle and High Schools, I have been very impressed by the expressions of welcome and cooperation from students, staff, and families. The Mesa Vista campus is one of pleasant salutations, friendly conversations, and words of encouragement. It is evident that the students and staff of Mesa Vista take pride in the success of their school and in creating a respectful environment.

The Mesa Vista Middle and High School staff is very dedicated to school improvement as evidenced in the school Educational Plan for Student Success. Within this improvement plan, specific strategies will be implemented in the areas of mathematics and reading, as well as increased parent involvement activities. Additionally, through the use of the District short cycle assessment, staff and students will be able to monitor individual student and school progress. This progress will be reported to the school community throughout the school year.

The parent and school partnership is an essential element in the success of every student. Please visit the Mesa Vista schools as often as possible as well as the School District Web site for up-to-date listing of events. Parents can become involved through the Parent Advisory Council, the School Health Advisory Council, and other parent involvement activities. Please visit with me should you have any concerns, suggestions for improvements, or resources for students and staff.

Through the hard and dedicated work of staff, students, and families, I look forward to a successful school year which will reap high levels of academic achievement for our students. Let’s work together in developing a quality education system that will equip our students with the skills necessary to be successful and contributing community members.

Respectfully,

Janette Archuleta
Principal
